Moonlight Sonata

Moonlight Sonata

A work of fantasy

Traditional artistic skillsets combined with digital imaging technology

Working with an author who had a vision I could only guess at, I had to come up with artwork that evoked scenes depicting imaginary creatures in fantastic, dark locales.

The challenge was in the creation of images that evoked the Jabberwocky style of the writer’s poem that was crowded with neologisms.

The project was ill-fated, but creatively worthwhile for me. Originally it was called something else. I have renamed it “Moonlight Sonata”.

It gave me a chance to explore my abilities in combining traditional illustration with digital imaging application, namely Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. It was a speculative non-paying enterprise. The author kept agonizing over “narrative transitions” and moved on to other projects.  C’est la vie!
